Baby BanZ... Gotta Love Pink! Review and Giveaway!

We have done reviews on Baby BanZ before here at Bookieboo Rave Reviews and Giveaways... but nothing like this. You see... Leah has two boys. I have two girls. When Leah did the review on Baby BanZ... it was from the mom of two boys perspective. I am here to give you a new spin on our very favorite sunglasses.

Our package arrived while I was at BlogHer, so they got a bit of a test drive before I got home. We aren't actually testing Baby BanZ... we are testing out the New JBanZ Junior Banz for kids ages 4-10!

Allison is 3 and she loooves the color green! She is testing out the Little Hunter camo green PatternZ. (Yes... I know they are intended for boys) Rachel is 4 and loves all that is pink! She is testing out the Safari Pink PatternZ. You should see them strutting around town like movie stars in their JBanZ. What little hams I've got! Where on earth did they get that from?! *hmmm*

Even at ages 3 and 4... they are learning to accessorize and match colors. It's so fun to see them deciding what to wear with their JBanZ or wide brim bucket hats!

JBanZ feature 100% UVA/ UVB protection and category 3 POLARIZED lenses! The frames are made of a shatter-resistant polycarbonate and they can even be used to accommodate prescription lenses!

JBanZ also come with their very own case and removable neoprene head strap. My girls like to use the head strap to keep their glasses around their neck when they aren't wearing them. (How stylish!)

Besides being stylish... the strap is functional and helps to keep their sunglasses on when they're running around. The carrying case has a clip that we have attached to their car seats so we will never forget our JBanz!

Cantaloupe Corner Best T-shirt You'll Ever Own Review and Giveaway

Ok... so the "best t-shirt you'll ever own" might be a bit bias... BUT let me tell you about Cantaloupe Corner...

Jenifer Hall founded her company Cantaloupe Corner the way that many of us did... out of sheer boredom. She was working at an insurance company when mommy duty came-a-calling. Jenifer did what alot of us did and became a stay at home mom.

Soon that feeling set in that she needed to be doing something. (*note* Don't bother sending hate mail about how being a sahm is doing something... I know... I am one... kthxbai) She wanted to be doing something in addition... (happy?)

Jenifer has all sort of crafty training. Check out her profile on Etsy... impressive! The process used in each and every hand designed Cantaloupe Corner t-shirt, is a process of dye removal that Jenifer has refined over the years. I am completely impressed...

Knowing that I am a lover of all things pink... Jenifer gave me a gorgeous light pink t-shirt with a swirly scroll down the side. I was beyond impressed with the crispness of the design. The blank shirt she begins with for her women's line, has a high quality, substantial feeling to it. It's made of 95% cotton and 5% spandex. The spandex is what I really love about this shirt. (as a side note... it smelled really good too)

I have been wearing it and washing it for nearly a week now. I am in love with it for my evening running and for doing my morning Yoga with the little ladies in the living room. It moves with me. It's stretchy and yummy... It's perfectly pretty active wear.

P.S. She makes them for babies and kids too! Simply adorable!

Between Me and You Keepsake Journal Review and Discount Code!

Over the past week or so, I have been busy journaling... but not just any sort of journaling. I have been documenting bits and pieces of my life for my children. I was given a copy of "Between Me and You Mom- A Few Things I've Been Meaning to Ask You". This spiral bound book is a keepsake journal from mother to child.

Inside, each page has a poignant question a child might ask their mother about her life. It's even broken up into categories: When you were a kid, Your youth, My dad, What about me, You (now), Other stuff.

One of my favorite questions is, "What are your memories of being a teenager?" My response?

Sleepovers, late night giggles, boy talk... (has anything changed?) playing sports, winning championships, destroying my knee sliding into home... A car accident, ICU, 2 weeks in the hospital... A break up, tears and more tears... Toilet papering my Math teacher's house... Senior year and getting out of school at noon, Baskin Robbins frozen coffee drinks, slurping and driving with the top down in the "Barbie Ferrari" while blasting No Doubt and singing at the top of my lungs...

We all have memories like this... what better way to share them with your child than in a journal? The journal is hardback and spiral bound. The "Mom" version is in a lovely shade of lilac... Which I happen to love. :) Not only is this a quality journal... It's affordable as well.

chicks-n-chickens Lullaby Exercises Review & Giveaway

Darcy from chicks-n-chickens sent me her Lullaby Exercises DVD the other day. Lullaby Exercises from chick-n-chickens is a fitness DVD set that works you out with your baby. All you need is a baby carrier, water and some motivation.

I think this product is great for new moms. I like the idea of chicks-n-chickens. Mom can exercise and comfort her baby at the same time. I joined in with her and really loved the squat exercises from the first DVD. In my opinion, I think these videos are a great low impact exercise for the brand new mommy. Nothing is overwhelming. I can see someone doing this when they are starting to get back into shape, but I can also see the more advanced exerciser doing this by modifying the moves a bit to make them harder.

Don't worry! Your baby will be safe the entire time. He'll be in the carrier and swaying along with you and loving every moment of it. My son was cooing and having a blast while I was working along with Darcy. And Darcy is adorable to look at. A very San Jose California type style. The other moms in the video have babies of varying ages. Some of them even start crying during the video, but Darcy tells you what to do when that happens too. I never had that problem because my baby loves to bounce around.

Little Lesiw Hair Bow Review and Giveaway

I've had the privilege to try out some pretty great hair clips over the last 4 years of bringing up girls... but let me share with you my recent experience with Little Lesiw's hand crafted clips.

Little Lesiw is a mom owned business. Buying from mom owned businesses and supporting the mom to mom economy is a passion of mine. Her shop is on Etsy and she offers such an array of choices!

When I agreed to do the review, I was expecting to receive a clip in the mail and I would test it on my girls and all would be well. All is well... we were so blessed to receive a small box full of Little Lesiw clips and a headband too!

My girls were elated! The packaging was so sweet and simple with pretty lavender tissue paper. The Little Lesiw logo sticker adorned the front. Each clip come on a lovely backer with all her contact info. It's so professional looking!

Our box came with a sampling of sizes. There are smaller sized flowers, called "Bitty Blooms" for side clipping and larger sized flowers we used for my oldest daughter's ponytail addiction.
Each Bloom is made of a high quality fabric. They typically measure approximately 3 inches and sits on a partially lined, single prong clip with grip, so it holds fine hair really well!

Tidy Kidz Review and Giveaway

I don't know about you, but my girls just despise cleaning up the house. I feel like I've tried everything to get them to help me pick up. In the end, I usually find myself raising my voice and chasing them room to room as they pick up one random toy at a time.

My girls found the videos to not only be entertaining, but something they could relate to... even at 3 and 4 years old. What I discovered was, I had been laying the ground work for cleaning, but not making it fun. Tidy Kidz solved that. We've been doing the 5 minute Tidy each day now and the house is staying much more... well... Tidy!

Save $$ And Baby Eats Better with BeaBa BabyCook

My mother purchased a Beaba BabyCook for me and I've had it for a couple of days. I really wanted to do a review on this product because I think it's phenomenal.

The BabyCook is a baby food processor, but not only does it blend, but it steams too. I was a little intimidated when I took it out of the box because I had never made baby food before. I never did that for my first one. I intended to, but life got in the way.

The Beaba BabyCook does all the work for you. You just pour in some water, put the diced fruit OR veges in the steamer and turn it on. Then when it's done in about 10-15 minutes, you blend them together. So easy. Then the clean-up is a breeze too. You just rinse it out. It can go in the dish washer on the top rack if you wish, or if you are like me, just rinse it and re-use. Yesterday, I made baby food for two weeks in less than an hour. But the best thing was, it didn't take that much thought or work. All I did was toss some food in there and then come back when it was done and blend. I was amazed by how easy it was.

I also purchased this silicon ice cube maker to go with the Beaba BabyCook and I would recommend getting it too. It makes things alot easier when storing and allows you to store the baby food for weeks. So what I did was make all the baby food, then I poured it in the ice cube makers, froze them in the freezer, then popped them out and put them in a freezer bag. Now I just take one out of the freezer bag when I need baby food and stick it in the microwave for 20 seconds and it's ready. So easy.

Okay, here is another great reason to get one. You will actually save money. Yes, the Beaba is expensive, about $150 depending on where you get it. But if you make the food at home, you won't have to purchase anything you aren't shopping for anyway. Think about it, you purchase fruit and veges from the market anyway every week, why not just purchase a little bit more and feed them to your baby? They will get better nutrition with more minerals and vitamins and you will end up saving money.

The product also comes with some baby food recipes that are really easy. I made apples & oranges, then veges with green beans, potatoes & tomatoes. Let me know if you have one OR if this review helped you any.

Babba Cover Car Seat Review & Giveaway

I wrote this review back in January after Christmas. I wanted to include it here for you in addition to the givaway. Since January I have gotten to know @Babbaco and she has become a great twitter pal as well.

Here is another baby product my husband gave me for the newborn, the BabbaCover Car Seat Cover. As you can see, it's adorable. It's a car seat cover made from warm fleece that looks like a little car. I use it all the time.

Every time I need to take the baby somewhere, I just put him in the car seat and cover him up. He stays safe and warm, and strangers don't have the opportunity to breathe all their germs on him. It's like he's in a little cocoon. When I need to put the car seat in the car, I just lift the flap (no need to take it off) and stick the car seat in the car.

This product is sold as a way to keep the baby warm in cold weather, but I live in sunny California and it works fine for everyday use here too. Also, since I have a toddler as well and need to go to his classes with him, I just bring the baby in the car seat and sit him down. You can open the window and see the baby inside without having to unwrap the cover. It's really convenient.

This would be an awesome baby shower gift for a new mom. And just because it's so darn cute, I've gotten so many compliments on it! So I would recommend the BabbaCover Car Seat Cover to any mom with a newborn.

My Wee Friend for Potty Training Review & Giveaway

I met Shea Kelly, the President of DaBibs, at the Baby Celebration Expo in Los Angeles the other day and visited her booth. She had this really cute bib that looked very interesting, the DaGiggles Bib. She gave me one to take home and try out so I could share with you what I thought.

I love the DaGiggles Bib! Not only is it really cute, but fully functional as well. The entire bib is waterproof, which means that I can just wipe things off and don't have to worry about it. It also has a crumb catcher that you have to fold under. I like this design, because not only does it catch everything but things don't get stuck in there. When you have to fold it under, it opens up the pocket, so it actually catches crumbs. Other bibs with catchers stay so flat, they don't catch anything. And the way the seams are sewn make it easy to wash. When you fold it under, the seams are out instead of in, so it's completely possible to get it spotless. No messy chunks stuck in the seams. The collar is also great. It's stretchy and firm at the same time because of the way it's sewn right into the bib and then velcroed on the side.

You can tell this bib was designed by a mom. It's an awesome design! And not to mention, it's safe for your child. It's made from all non-toxic, lead free materials. I'm a happy camper with this one. It has become the bib I bring with me on all occasions.

If you ever jog with a toddler in a jogging stroller, you have to be prepared for the constant stopping. Well, at least I do. And if you are really good, you can do the mental exercise while driving. They seemed pretty simple at first but got hard real quick.

Baby wearing is back in vogue! And I'm relieved, because it gives you lots of options on how to wear your baby. You can find a carrier in all sorts of patterns and colors, and still feel like a fashionista (if that's your thing) while doing it. I've been doing a lot of baby wearing because I have a newborn while I'm chasing after a 3-year-old hyper active boy in diapers. Need I say more? I'm beginning to amass quite a collection and becoming quite an expert in baby wearing fatigues.

But women have always made the most ingenious products from necessity in their everyday life, so I'm proud to sport something that is a throw-back. Moby Wraps are a simple piece of strong stretchy fabric that you wrap around yourself to support the baby. The reason I like it is because it's so easy to transport, which is one of my big problems. I can't fit very much more in my diaper bag. Then after you get over the fear of creating the wrap yourself, it becomes quite easy to use.

I still have a newborn, so am limited on how I can wrap the baby, but as soon as he gains more neck control there are myriads of different wraps I can create to hold him tight. I actually ended up creating my own hybrid wrap that my son likes the best based on two different wraps in the booklet.

I'm a big fan of stroller workouts. Anything that includes your child so you don't need to wait till naptime or put them in a nursery is fine by me. Sara Holliday's Stroller Workout for Moms is a great tool you can use to do your own stroller exercise by yourself. It comes with a DVD and CD. You watch the DVD to get an idea of what she's talking about, and then you take the CD with you and listen. You work along with her to her instruction. I'm not very good at doing things by myself without any help, so having the stroller workout CD with me is a great way to ensure I get a good workout in.

The workout is an entire hour. It's divided into 3 segments and a bonus.

40 minutes : Intervals of kickboxing drills and upper body toning exercises.
10 minutes: Lower body exercises for inner and outer thighs and abdominal exercises.

The No Throw: Less Worry For Mom

A couple of years ago when I was jogging around the park, my son threw his bottle out of the stroller after he was done for the thousandth time. He then started crying because I didn't see him do it and kept jogging. I had to go back and retrieve it AGAIN for the thousandth time. So I though to myself, I should invent this cord that attaches to the stroller and his bottle so that when he throws out the bottle, it doesn't go anywhere. Well, life happened and I didn't invent anything. Well, guess what? It's already been done.

Nuru "Exercise Anywhere" Cards: Useful Tool

Crystalee from Nuru sent me a set of "Exercise Anywhere" Cards the other day. This is a neat idea for stay-at-home moms who can't get to the gym. It's a pack of cards that goes over most strength training exercises step-by-step. You can be anywhere, including your own home and get a great workout by following their instructions.

Each card is a different exercercise and has diagrams and pictures to walk you through it. It even has recommended weekly routines just like you would with a personal trainer. It's small and will very easily fit inside a purse or diaper bag. In fact, I can fit them in my back pocket. And they are binded together by a small metal ring.

These cards are going to come in handy for me because I've been working out with some friends, mostly walking, but we are going to start strength training. Now I don't have to do any homework other than look through these cards to know what to do. Oh, and did I mention the best part? You don't need weights to do any of these routines. They instruct you how to do them with everyday objects or by using your body as resistence. Yeah, you can be anywhere and get a good workout with Nuru "Exercise Anywhere" Cards.

The Bundle: Keeps Me From Feeling Naked

Here is another little accessory I can't live without. I have two children now: a very very active toddler and a newborn. I've got toddler classes to go to, shopping to do, pictures to be taken of the baby every month, Weight Watchers meetings, family outings and play dates every week. Don't worry, I'm not always by myself, I have a lot of help from grandparents and my cousin. One little accessory that has come in handy has been the Bundle. I use the Bundle to carry diapers, wipes and Desitin. And then I have a bag inside my bag. Now why would I need a bag inside my bag? Because when I have "reinforcements" and need one of my little monsters changed, say at a toddler class, Yaya (my mom) only has to reach inside the diaper bag and grab the little Bundle. Then she doesn't leave me feeling naked without all my other supplies. Do you ever feel like that? Naked without supplies...ah, I digress.

The Bundle rolls up and can handle just as much as you can stuff in it. There are several pockets you can use. And you don't need to use it for just diapers, there are mothers using it for emergency kits, snack bags, etc. When I first got it, I thought it was supposed to fold nicely and thought, well that doesn't work very well, until I realized (duh!), it's supposed to roll.

The Bundle comes in all sorts of different fabrics, so you may not like my style, but there are a lot to choose from. I do have to warn you, they are pricey, about $59.99 and with shipping and taxes, you do the math. But I love my Bundle and use it everyday.

Diaper Dude--Love My New Bag

I'm totally in love with my new diaper bag. I needed something that my husband wasn't embarrassed to carry, but I liked as well. So I went online and did a search for daddy diaper bags and up popped Diaper Dude.

I'm a bit of a tomboy, so I don't mind the whole army motif, and I love Asian themes (I spent a summer teaching English in Xian, China), so I thought the dragon looked really cool. Anything you find for a "dude" online that is baby related will always be centered around practicality. And that's what I wanted, a fully functional practical yet cool-looking bag that my husband wouldn't complain about.

I love this bag. It's got all kinds of bells and whistles. Here is some info I got from the site about the features:

It's a medium-sized bag, so if you are looking for a huge bag, this won't be for you. I've downsized from a huge bag to a medium-sized bag and it's been saving my back. I was such a pack-rat. I'm glad I did it. But of course, I've been accumulating more stuff in this bag that I don't need, so every once in a while I take everything out and ask myself "what do I absolutely need?" I can't believe with a toddler and newborn I can fit everything in a medium-sized bag, but I do.

Oh, the only suggestion I would have for Diaper Dude to improve on this product is to make the bottle holder part bigger. I'm using the bottle holder for my toddler's bottles because I breastfeed. It's a little small and very snug. It takes me a bit of time to pry the toddler bottles out of the bag. What I ended up doing is putting them in a zip loc and then stuffing them in the holder. It was easier that way. But even with that issue, I still love my bag. Nothing's perfect!

Earth Shoes--Burn Extra Calories & Feel the Difference

Yesterday I did an ab cameo with Tracey Mallet in her new workout video. I had a great time and met some awesome fit mamas. She gave me and everyone else that participated free Earth Footwear for the workout. My workout didn't require shoes because it was all about getting your abs in shape after baby, so today was the first time I've worn them. I did a workout video and wore them around the house and boy can I feel a difference!

Awesome Breastfeeding Accessories

My son, whom I refer to as Mr. Grumpy Pants, is five weeks old now, and the worst, most painful part of breastfeeding is over. It's always week 2-3 that is so painful, I almost want to give up. Especially since I'm really REALLY fair skinned with freckles and red hair. My skin in that area is real sensitive and I always have issues with cracking, bleeding, clogged ducts, etc.

I wanted to share with you some products that have made my life easier during this whole shabang, and here they are:

(1) Medela Quick Clean Micro Steam Bags
These bags are awesome! What are they, you ask? Well, I'll tell ya. They clean your breastpump accessories without soap and water. When you are done pumping, just rinse off the parts that come in contact with your breastmilk and breast, throw them in this bag, add some water and then throw them in the microwave for about 3 minutes. No soap needed! It's so much easier than having to wash everything all the time. You get about 5 in a box and each bag can be used about 20 times.

(2) Lansinoh Brand Lanolin
This is the only brand that uses 100% Lanolin, so basically there are no added chemicals. It's ultra-pure medical grade lanolin. It's also hypoallergenic and works wonderfully. With my last son, I wasn't as good putting this on everyday. This time, I'm putting this stuff on all the time. Of course my husband is happy because I'm always air drying and walking around the house half naked. His favorite part is when he comes home to a wife that is half naked in the kitchen cooking up his dinner. So get yourself some of this too!

(3)Amuse Me Nursing Cover
I love the nursing covers from Amuse Me! I was so happy with my first one, I bought another one. And I'm thinking of getting a third one. I know...obsessed...but I wouldn't be able to leave the house without it. These nursing covers are made with love by Lisa at Amuse Me and they are the greatest quality. I've nursed in the rain, high winds, and shade. In the park, toddler classes, restaurants, family gatherings, etc. And everytime I nurse, it's modest and very stylish. I get compliments on mine all the time, which is why I'm getting a third one. I love them!

(4) Bravado Original Nursing Bra
I didn't really have any nice nursing bras last time, but this time I felt like I deserved one. I learned about Bravado from a nursing video I watched and did a review on earlier. I went to their site to give them a try and I'm so glad I did. I love my bra. Actually, I have 3 more in the mail coming right now and can't wait to get them. This bra makes my life so much easier! It's comfortable, has a snap, and I can bust my boob out in 2 seconds flat while Mr. Grumpy Pants is oinking trying to find something to eat. Bravado has so many other bras to choose from in all sorts of other colors, so check them out! You'll find something you like.

(5) Bravado Essential Nursing Bra Tank
Here is another Bravado product I purchased. The tank. This is even easier to use than the bra. The strap comes down and your boob just pops out ready to go. I would recommend using a nursing cover or a sweater over it if you are going to use it. And yes, I have another one coming in the mail because I loved it so much! The first one I got was in black, and now I've got a white one coming. This tank comes down past your jeans, so you can be more modest in the back while you are breastfeeding. I've even slept in my tank. It's very comfortable and also gives my "girls" a lift, which my husband really likes.

(6) My Hip-T
Okay, my Hip-T is not marketed as a nursing product, but it really should be. I've had my Hip-T for years now and loved it before I got pregnant to hide my butt crack when I was wearing jeans that rode kind of low. Now I love it to hide my crack and love handles in the back while I'm breastfeeding. I've got a black one that goes right over my jeans and under my shirt. Hey, when you are trying lose the baby weight, you're more modest, right? Well, at least I am.

(7) Smart Choices Breast Soother
I always get clogged milk ducts and have incredible pain for the first 2-3 weeks and then sometimes after that. I'm also prone to infection, which will probably eventually happen to me again. This is why I love things that help me with the needed heat I need to apply. I found Smart Choices Breast Soothers on an Australian site one day and ordered them. They are fabulous. They are for warming or cooling therapy. But the best thing about them is you don't have to hold them on your breasts--just stick them in your bra. I don't need to think about them too much when I'm using them. For cold, stick them in the fridge, and for hot, stick them in hot water to warm up. Just make sure you don't microwave them. I have no idea what happens if you do that, but I love my breast soothers, so I'm not going to try it!

And who could forget the Boppy! This contraction works as the perfect pillow to support the baby while breastfeeding. It wraps around your waist and the baby rests directly on top of it, perfectly positioned to eat from the right or left side. It also doubles as a pillow to rest the baby on while doing tummy time. I have three boppies. One is almost completely flat from being used during my first son, the other one I use right now with Mr. Grumpy Pants, and the last one is at my in-laws.

Baby Bjorn: I Finally Have My Hands Back

So breastfeeding this little sucker is all I do. He eats all day and all night. I know that sounds crazy, but what he is really doing is using me as a pacifier. My mom came over today and said, it's too bad you don't have one of those snugly things. Ding ding ding! I do! My husband bought me a Baby Bjorn Active Carrier for Xmas, but I thought I wouldn't be able to wear it till my son had good neck control. (At least that's how it was with my younger son because he didn't like it till he was 4 months old.) With my sleep deprived zombie mush brain, I completely forgot to try it. The box was sitting unopened on the stairs.

I ran up there and got it out of the box. It took me about five minutes how to figure out how to wear it. There are alot of straps and buckles and what-not. Then I put my 4 week old son in it. He fussed for about thirty seconds and then calmed down and fell asleep. And guess what? I had my hands back! I did the dishes, twittered, sent out some emails, played with my toddler, ate lunch, and cleaned up the living room.

Just having me close by to him was all he wanted. So I'm wondering, does this mean I don't have to be a pacifier anymore? As of today, I'm a very happy camper. If you have one of these things, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I didn't realize you can use them so early, and now I know you can. Can you spell freedom? I feel so relieved!

The Earcheck: Saves You Trips to the Doctor

I got an Earcheck in the mail before the baby was born and I've been waiting until my son was sick before I did a review on this product. Today my son woke up sweating, crying and shivering. I got out the handy dandy Earcheck, a thermometer, and some Motrin. The Earcheck was easy to use and my son loved it.

My son loves his doctor, Dr. Nudelman, so I explained to him that the doctor gave the Earcheck to me to check for birds in his ear. (The doctor always checks for birdies when he's there and he loves it.) There are three lights to look for. Green means there is no fluid and that means no birdies. Then there is yellow and red, with red meaning you must consult a physician. I explained what the colors meant to my son and he got real excited. Of course, it was green, thank God. And then he didn't even have a temperature. So I wasn't worried after that, but I still gave him the Motrin.

I liked this product. When my son has a fever, I'm always in the doctor's office, and they must be sick of me. I'm always very worried about his ears because my father was hard of hearing and I know how tough it is to live your life not being able to hear. Persistent earaches can cause hearing damage, so this is serious to me. Now I don't have to worry every time he has a temperature. Less stress for mommy means a happier home.

BOB Revolution Duallie Jogging Stroller: Good for Everyday

The Bob Revolution Duallie Stroller is a good buy. Okay, it's a bit expensive, but I've been using this sucker as my everyday stroller, and with an infant in tow, it's been great! I can fit my toddler in one side and the infant car seat on the other side and I'm on my way.

You have to purchase an adapter bar so that you can attach the baby's car seat to the stroller in order to make it baby proof. The attachment also doubles as a cup holder for my toddler on the other side, and when my baby is ready to sit up right, it turns into a double cup holder.

The stroller looks really big, but it will fit through any standard door and wheels around very easily. My cousin had a jogging stroller that I borrowed one day to take to Disneyland. It had two wheels in the front and those wheels would lock up every hour or so and the stroller would not budge. I thought about how dangerous that would be if you were jogging on the road and that happened. So I decided after that trip to Disneyland that when I get my own double stroller, it would only have one wheel in the front.

Another thing I'd like to mention is the fold-up. You have to have an SUV or mini-van to fit this sucker in the trunk. That is unless you have a huge trunk. The first time my husband tried to fold it up, he didn't realize how to fold it in half, so he told me it couldn't fit. Then he went online and studied the fold-up process and got it. So that part isn't really intuitive, but it will fit, so don't let your husband tell you it won't.

Sara Holiday's Prenatal Yoga Workouts Good for Pregnant Moms

Sara Holiday, with FitbySara, has great 2nd & 3rd trimester prenatal yoga workout videos. They are called Sara Holiday's Prenatal Yoga series. I received her videos during the very end of my 3rd trimester and tried them out a couple of weeks before delivery.

Okay, I get a little crazy with the high intensity Taebo workouts, but my last two weeks, I really slowed down. I was having alot of hip pain and could barely walk at times with something called Pubic Symphysis Diastasis. Sara's dvd came at the right time, because her yoga workout at the beach was a welcome change for me. I needed something that was a a little easier and gentler on my sore frame. In my 38th week, my doctor told me to take it easy, and recommended that I do Yoga instead. I've never been a big fan of yoga, but let me tell you, it really helped me push through the soreness and get a workout.

Sara Holliday's Prenatal Yoga series are useful for increased muslce tone and strength and decreased stress and muscle tension. Exercises such as these are guaranteed to reduce the amount of labor pain you experience, and I can attest that with all the work I did (not all with this dvd, but working out like a fiend in general) I was able to make it to a 6 without killing my husband. Last time I only made it to a 3.

I'd recommend Sara's Prenatal Yoga series to any pregnant mom who is interested in staying in shape and haivng a fit pregnancy.

Babbacover Car Seat Cover--I Love This Thing!

Here is another baby product my husband gave me for the newborn, the BabbaCover Car Seat Cover. As you can see, it's adorable. It's a car seat cover made from warm fleece that looks like a little car. I use it all the time.

Every time I need to take the baby somewhere, I just put him in the car seat and cover him up. He stays safe and warm, and strangers don't have the opportunity to breathe all their germs on him. It's like he's in a little cocoon. When I need to put the car seat in the car, I just lift the flap (no need to take it off) and stick the car seat in the car.

This product is sold as a way to keep the baby warm in cold weather, but I live in sunny California and it works fine for everyday use here too. Also, since I have a toddler as well and need to go to his classes with him, I just bring the baby in the car seat and sit him down. You can open the window and see the baby inside without having to unwrap the cover. It's really convenient.

This would be an awesome baby shower gift for a new mom. And just because it's so darn cute, I've gotten so many compliments on it! So I would recommend the BabbaCover Car Seat Cover to any mom with a newborn.

Amuse Me Nursing Covers--The Best!

I'm a big boobed girl. When it comes to breastfeeding in public, I was a bit afraid because the last time around with my son it was impossible to do without exposing myself. I couldn't find a way to do it without showing the world my goods, so I ended up pumping like a fiend and bottle feeding my son breast milk in public. Well, this time I was determined to learn to breastfeed in public. My husband asked me if there was a special nursing cover that I wanted and the first store I though of was Amuse Me. Lisa from Amuse Me is a member of Bookieboo and I loved the patterns on her nursing covers and aprons.

I'm in love with my nursing cover and am finding it very easy to use out in public. Okay, I had one last time, but it wasn't his cool. Amuse Me nursing covers have a flexible soft wire on the rim of neckline. It opens the nursing cover for your eyes only so you can see what is going on down there without giving everyone else a show. That was what drove me nuts before. I couldn't see anything and would have to go with my gut. So if you have to guide the newborn, you can see exactly what you are doing. This makes me a happy camper. The nursing covers also have ribbons and large geographical prints on the inside so the infant has something exciting to look at and play with when they are in there. The neck strap is adjustable and easy to get on and off.

The first day I used the nursing cover it was windy. I was a bit worried about what would happen, but the cover worked flawlessly. It was thick enough to catch the wind and my son didn't even notice. The flaps didn't blow up to expose everything, and I went from being afraid to nurse in public to as confident as the other moms who have been doing it forever.

Laugh & Learn: About Childbirth--Great Alternative to Classes

I was the winner of a contest giveaway on Green and Clean Mom and received Laugh & Learn: About Childbirth with Sheri Bayles. I'm glad I won this item because I really really needed a refresher course before the baby was born. It's a two disc set of comprehensive childbirth classes including information on labor, breathing techniques, pain relieving options, cord blood banking, comfort measures, and delivery & pushing. It's everything you would take a class on to prepare you for delivery.

What I liked the most about it was how fun and informative Sheri Bayles was. Okay, this is NOT dry and boring. Yes, you are watching her teach a class, but it is in a private setting with five couples, great production quality, and she is hysterical! Sheri Bayles has been an RN for many many years and goes into comedic monologues throughout the video about past patients--it's almost like a stand-up comedy routine for pregnant moms. She also picks on the husbands during the class a little bit, which is also entertaining.

These classes are also very informative. I learned a great deal about the potential complications arising from interventions, including some that had happened to me during my last pregnancy. After watching Sheri's DVD, my last delivery finally made sense to me. I am very grateful to her in helping me put the pieces together.

I'd recommend this DVD to anyone who would like to learn about the labor and delivery process in the privacy of their own home.

Kaboost Portable Chair Booster—Getting in that “Big Boy” Spirit

One of the neatest inventions I’ve seen in a long time is the Kaboost, a portable child booster. The Kaboost is appropriate for children as soon as they are ready for a booster seat. Basically, it lifts the chair off the ground to a height that makes sitting at the table comfortable and easy for them. And they get to be just like mommy and daddy or an older sibling at the table.

There is no assembly required, the Kaboost is ready right out of the box. I think it took me about 30 seconds to attach to the chair, so it’s quick and easy to use. And it’s amazingly sturdy. I sat on it to check it out and found that it was solid. My little Bookieboo will be safe on it. Also, the feet are made with rubber, so there is no slipping or scratching the floors. Then if you want to take it off and take it with you, it comes with a bag and folds very easily to carry.

As a two year old, my son is in love with the idea of doing things the “big boy” way, so when I set up the Kaboost, he was so excited he could hardly contain himself. Now my only problem is teaching him how to sit on his bottom, which I know will come in time.

I would recommend the Kaboost to anyone who wants their children to experience a more independent dining experience. My son is easy going when it comes to booster seats, but a lot of toddlers don’t like them. The Kaboost would be a perfect solution for more independent toddlers.

Better Living With Whole Foods: Everything I Ever Wanted To Know About Nutrition

Alexander Morentin, author of Better Living With Whole Foods, sent me his book one day and it took me a while to get around to reading it. Being preggers and all, I was putting off everything. After the nausea of the first trimester, I finally got around to reading it. (You have to understand that reading is a luxury for me and I don't get around to reading very often.) But I wish I had read this book before I got pregnant. It's one of those "must haves" for moms.

Better Living With Whole Foods answers every question I ever had about organic food, processed food and and everything in between. Here are some of the questions I had that were answered: (1) What is the prevalence of hormones in meat and dairy and how do they affect my body?, (2) What does organic produce mean and why am I really buying it? (3) What's up with white bread and why is it bad for me? (4) So why are processed and packaged foods so bad for my body? and (5) What do I specifically need to buy to improve my health? In this book, Alex does a great job of answering all my questions and then some.

I come from a family that has a great deal of cancer, and I've always wondered about the food that I eat everyday and how it's different from what my grandma ate on the farm during the Great Depression in the Dustbowl. Alex answered all my questions and now I keep his book around as a reference in my kitchen because it's easy to read.

If you have children, this is a great book to have around so that you are well educated with what you feed your family. And if you are pregnant, all the more to understand more about the chemicals you are putting into your body.

My name is Leah Segedie and I'm also the Chief Mom of Bookieboo, fitness hangout for moms. I'm a stay-at-home mom of two boys with a busy schedule. After the birth of my first son in 2006, I lost over 100 lbs. and realized that fitness was the only way for me to keep my sanity in a world of diapers and temper tantrums. Fitness has been a great stress reliever, hobby and life saver. Earlier this year, I had another baby and am working off the remaining weight one pound at a time with hard work and dedication.

My background is in Communications. I have a Masters Degree from USC in Communication Management. Go Trojans! I also did my undergraduate degree there. Elefun: Great Gift for Kids

I've been going to alot of toddler birthday parties lately and I've been getting everyone the same gift and it's always been a hit. Elefun is a great gift for toddlers or to buy your children. The idea is real simple, but when the kids play it, they have a blast.

Elefun is a motorized elephant with a detachable trunk. It blows little butterflies out of it's trunk and the kids try to catch them with their butterfly catchers. The first time you set it up, you'll hear squealing with delight and "again, again!" If your child is about 3, they might be able to actually catch some of the butterflies, but if they can't, they will still have just as much fun.

It's also good practice for them cleaning up because in order to play again they will have to pick up all the butterflies and put them back in the trunk. My son loves this game and always says he wants to get it for his friends (along with Lightening McQueen).

Anytime I need to get something quick for dinner, but don't want to eat greasy unhealthy food, I go to Sharky's Mexican Grill. Sharky's is a take-out or sit down fresh Mex grill based in California. They also have one location in Washington, but they are growing quickly because of their belief in quality organic ingredients.

I go for the 1/2 power plate with chicken, broccoli & brown rice. There's enough food for two meals, so I always end up sharing with my son or refrigerating for later. The chicken is tasty, and the brown rice is never dry. Ordering this plate at Sharky's is a great way to watch what you eat without sacrificing taste. My husband loves the soft chicken tacos with mesquite salsa & cilantro.

Have you ever had one of those days where you just can't deal anymore? I'm 7 months pregnant and have been cooped up with my sick & cranky toddler for three days. I called my mom today and begged her to come play with my son. She did better than that, she brought food for dinner, Coldwater Creek gift certificates and a happy cheerful smile. She said, "why don't you go get a massage and pedicure?" Oh, the thought never occurred to me...you mean something for me? I'm too busy thinking about everyone else, but I was open to it today. I love my mom!

The Coldwater Creek Spa in Simi Valley had an opening for the afternoon and I scheduled a "pregnancy massage" and "essential pedicure." OMG! From the time I got there to the time I left I was relaxed, comfortable, and treated like a queen. The atmosphere was very posh and rejuvenating. I changed into a robe and slippers, was treated to a foot soak, tea and warm neck pad while I was waiting in the relaxation room. I'm giving props to Debra, my masseuse, for the most awesome massage of my life. It included those black stones, a full body massage on all my pressure points during pregnancy and a foot massage. It lasted for about an hour and I was so happy afterward. Then came my essential pedicure with Lisa...more props! They put me in this relaxation chair and give me aroma treatments, a foot rub with lotions and scrubbing concoctions, a neck wrap and herbal pads to block out the light. I have to admit I was so relaxed that I fell asleep for about 10 minutes in the middle of it. That is very unlikely of me because I'm the kind of person who has trouble relaxing because my mind is so active with thoughts and ideas.

Basically, I'm telling you that if you can treat yourself to something like this, do it! I came back to a screaming toddler who was very tired and didn't get enough sleep during his nap and was totally okay with it. I can handle anything today....I've been reborn! Thanks Coldwater Creek Spa!

Paci Pockets: Shortening the Mad Pacifier Search

When my son was born he had a pacifier in his mouth till he wasabout 6 months old. It was a lifesaver. The doctor told us that every infant has a programmed amount of sucks they need to get out and mine had plenty. By the time he was 6 months old, he didn’t need it anymore. But I remember times when I lost pacifiers and had to quickly search my diaper bag, finding them at the bottom covered in lint and God only knows what else.

I received a Paci Pocket from Cry Babyz Boutique the other day and thought this is the solution to my problem. No more dirty pacifiers at the bottom of my diaper bag and racing to find the pacifier while my son is screaming. Stroller Strides: Challenging Mom-Friendly Workouts

Stroller Strides is a mom-friendly stroller based workout program, where several moms get together, sometimes daily, to workout with their children. Strollers are used for jogging, power walking, strength training and balance while the children are in tow. The program revolves around mothers and their children, regardless of how many you have. The instructors have a unique understanding of the demanding environment mothers must face everyday when raising young children. And because fitness relieves stress and makes us all better mothers, Stroller Strides is a perfect solution to a unique problem.

I spent a month with a local chapter in Thousand Oaks, CA to do this review. From the very beginning, I was impressed. There were three things that I was looking for when reviewing Stroller Strides: (1) Would the group atmosphere be stimulating enough for my super active son, (2) would the moms be understanding of crying, whining and frequent stops and (3) is the workout challenging enough to encourage muscle growth and weight loss. After spending that month with a group of awesome moms, the answers to my question was yes to all three!

Stroller Strides is not only child-friendly and interactive, but it is challenging and really gets you sweating and working hard. The moms and instructors are all wonderful and understanding of whining, crying, several child requests during the workout, etc. The most wonderful thing about it is you are not alone in your struggle with fitness and you don’t have to put your children in a nursery while you sweat it out.

If you are a new mom or a mom finding it hard to put your child in daycare at a gym, I would recommend joining a local Stroller Strides chapter. Check out their site and see if one is located close to you.

So now that I’m pregnant, and showing quite early, I was having trouble fitting into my tight shirts….well, at least they seem really tight now. It was kind of embarrassing. Now that I’m pregnant and in between clothes, I was so happy to get a package from Be Present yoga attire. I didn’t realize there were so many things I could add accessories to. I’ve always been somewhat of a tomboy, but when I see the charms from Burning at Both Ends, I finally get it. My Hip-T: Saving Your Ass-ets from Embarrassment

Okay, I love the low rise jeans because I actually have a nice stomach and small waist, but what I don’t love about them is what happens when I decide to sit. Here comes the plumbers crack! This happens to me frequently because I only have low rise jeans since I’ve lost so much weight. So yes, when I go to my son’s toddler classes, guess what the other moms get to see that they didn’t pay for? My ass! And when I go out with my in-laws to a restaurant and the chair has an open back, guess what the rest of the restaurant gets to see that they didn’t order? Yes, again my g-string or plumbers crack! So this has been a big problem that I didn’t have a solution for.

There are so many stationary type boutiques out there. It’s often a blur when I go searching for thank you notes or birthday invitations. It’s been years since I’ve been in birth announcement hell. All I could think of was coffee, but of course when you are breastfeeding you are limited with everything! As an educated consumer, I’m always searching around for all natural facial products that don’t feel greasy on my skin. There are a lot of natural products that have a greasy feel and with combination skin, it’s not attractive or only something you can wear at night. There are not so many that sink in just right. If you feel the way I do, let me introduce you to Pangea Organics. I tried out their Egyptian Calendula & Blood Orange Facial Cleanser and French Chamomile & Orange Blossom Facial Cream. They were awesome!

Baby Banz Sunglasses & Wide Brimmed Hat Combo: Way Cool

Baby Banz has great quality sunglasses and hats! Little Bookie is a very fair skinned boy with red hair, so I’m always very conscious of the sun living in Southern California. We only bother with the best sun protection products, and I think we’ve found a winner!

If you have a boy, they have these real cute hunter green army print sunglasses with a matching wide brimmed hat that will make any dad proud. The sunglasses have an adjustable band instead of rims, which make keeping them on very easy. (That was always a problem of ours, little Bookie runs around so much that his sunglasses would never stay on. We didn’t have that problem with Baby Banz.) If you buy thesunglass/hat combo, the hat matches perfectly and is so big that it covers his neck and face completely without impeding vision.

We went to The Lakes in Thousand Oaks on Wednesday to try out these new sunglasses and hat. It's a great place to take kids, but there isn't alot of shade. His new
sunglasses and hat were so cute that his friend Thatcher stole them for a couple of minutes to take a picture. This is Thatcher (Bookie’s little buddy) and his mom, Anne.

Mugwaz--An Awesome Craft Project for Girls

Mugwaz craft products are an excellent activity for little girls! My niece Ashley was the guinea pig for this review and she has become a major Mugwaz fan!

She received the flip flop and purse kit in the mail, along with a Mugwaz t-shirt. (She’s in love with the t-shirt and wears it as much as possible.) As for the kits, the flip flop kit was her favorite. Being able to design her own flip flops made her feel like a clothing designer.

As a 5 year-old, she was a little too young for the purse kit, but still loved it after it was done. I would recommend the purse kit for a girl between the ages of 6-12 years old.

Mugwaz has many products for girls: flip flops, purses, belts, necklaces, bracelets, hair clips and t-shirts. All items are craft activities girls go giddy over. They also offer party packs, so if you are having a birthday party soon, these will be a hit!

Year One: Your Baby, Your Doctor & You DVD--Very Useful & Great Gift Idea for New Parents

I really wish I had this video when my son was first born. It answers so many questions that I had, but never thought to ask. Dr. Rachel Esmond, a very warm and friendly pediatrician, goes through all
aspects of a child’s development up to 12 months. It includes every checkup your baby should have and the developmental milestones they should reach at each month. It also includes some bonus features on
how to choose a pediatrician and infant & toddler safety that proves real useful.

I would recommend this to DVD to anyone who is about to have a babyor who has a child under one year.
